Aims of the programme

The aim of the programme is to produce graduates who can function as accountants to manage the financial resources and produce relevant financial reports to facilitate management decision making. It is designed to provide students with the requisite skills for a successful managerial career in accounting.

Objectives of the programme

The specific objectives of the programme are to:

• skills for critical thinking on accounting issues.

• demonstrate an understanding of ethical issues as it relates to accounting discipline

• equip students with knowledge in managerial and organizational skills required of accounting professionals in senior management roles.

• equip students with skills in data collection and analysis in tackling emerging issues in financial reporting, audit and assurance and taxation practice.

• give students an avenue to expand their technical knowledge in the accounting disciplines.

Entry requirements for admission of students

Applicants are expected to

i. Have obtained a good first degree in accounting from a recognized academic institution. A candidate may in lieu of a degree in accounting apply with professional qualification in accounting equivalent to Part Two of Institute of Chartered Accountants Ghana examination.

ii. Submit an official transcript of academic record

iii. Submit, at least, two reference reports, one of which must be from a former lecturer.

iv. Satisfy any additional requirement prescribed by the College/Faculties/Schools/Institutes/Departments. These may include relevant work experience, a written entrance examination and/or an interview.

Requirements for graduation

The following requirements for graduation:         

Course Requirements: MBA candidate is expected to pass all courses during the first two semesters of course work at a CGPA of 2.00. In addition, MBA candidates have to submit their dissertations by the end of the second semester.
